About

Larry Wakefield (Wakes) is a UK music producer, pianist and son of professional composer and arranger Anthony Wakefield and operatic vocalist Pamela Wakefield.
Music has been a big part of his life, Wakes started at the piano aged seven and began writing and performing music from an early age. Heavily influenced by the dance music scene of the 90s and the amazing piano riffs taken from this era, the basis from which Wakes took his style was formed.
Along with his playing skills, Wakes studied music production and gradually built up his studio whilst performing in a number of bands. An award soon materialised for his track ‘A Balearic Dream’ which was the fastest climber in the BT ‘Get Out There’ online Dance chart in 99.
After a break of nearly ten years without music in which he married, divorced and concentrated on his plumbing career, Wakes again found the love and performed keys for R and B singer Nancee for her London tour as she promoted her debut album. That summer saw Wakes playing at a number of well known Central London venues and festivals, performing alongside chart acts and X Factor finalists. Meanwhile, his track ‘No Ground, No Fans’ featuring the Wealdstone Raider went viral on the internet and was very briefly backed by the Daily Mirror for the Christmas number one of 2014 before eventually losing out to the ‘official’ version which reached no.5 in the U.K. singles chart.
Wakes has now gone back to his roots for his latest project, the ‘Funky Old Skool Piano Mash-up’ and ‘Classic Anthems Soundscape’ performed solo with sequenced drum and bass backing. His spectacular performance of club classics from the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s is guaranteed to get everyone up and moving on the dance floor!
